Tsaiz Mission Center

The Tsaiz Mission center was opened in the fall of 2004.

The property consists of one building, a large ger, 4 smaller gers, and two old Russian military barracks that are unused. It is hoped that the future will bring the renovation of these barracks so that they might be used for continued ministry by the mission center.

The activities and life of the church and center flow from one space to another, from building to ger to other gers. On any given day you'll find many of the buildings teeming with life and activity.

Mission Center Outreaches:

Foreign Language classes: Each day hosts a myriad of language classes. There are Korean classes for beginners and intermediate level learners on a daily basis. There are also English classes for a variety of age groups each day, including elementary age students and youth and adults-all of many different levels.

Mother's classes: In the fall, winter and spring the center has a small group of mothers who meet each week to talk about what it means to be a mother in Mongolia.

Craft classes: Many women meet at the center and create a wide range of crafts made from animal wool. Many of the women involved in the craft classes are without jobs and come as a way to be connected with other women. They learn how to take wool, color it, and then form it into felt. The process is a lengthy one and requires many people's help. Some of the crafts they make are slippers, jewelry, bags, calendars and scarves.

Cooking classes: Each Friday afternoon, everyone at the center comes into the front room to discover what food  will be cooked that week. There is a different theme of food each week, ranging from a variety of different countries. Many people share in this meal together, including the center's staff, members of various classes and the church's guards.

Library: The library is open every day for students to use for studying, meeting to work on projects or homework and to borrow books, videos or other resources from the collection.

School program: In the winter, the center started a program for students from the area who could not afford to go to school, had recently moved to the city from the countryside and had not had much schooling, or did not have the correct paperwork to attend school. Some students also come as an extra-curricular activity, before or after their school. This program was developed in order to provide a place for children who would not normally be able to attend school and to give them a chance to participate in a school-like atmosphere. Many people from the church's congregation offer their teaching expertise in areas like math, Mongolian language, history, reading, science and English so as to provide a well-rounded education for the students.

Senior citizen group: A group for those 50 years and older meets every Thursday from 1-3 p.m. for a variety of programs, games, fellowship and laughter. The group also participates in joint senior citizen group functions with other local groups.

Garden: The center has a rather large garden in the back of the property. This garden is tended to by many people that work and help around the center. There are many vegetables that grow during the summer months, as well as flowers. The vegetables grown are sold to members of Gerelt UMC and the community.

Summer School Program: Each summer, the center has a daily summer school program for the children of the community. The program was created so that children could have planned activities during the summer months out of school. This program is held each day from 10-12 in the morning. The children look forward to this all year long.
